How we got there!
Good ole Frontier Airlines! We got lucky with a unique situation and we ended up with a ton of Frontier Miles. These miles got us to a couple of places with Washington D.C being one of them. We chose here because Parker served a mission here and spent a lot of time in Virginia and D.C.
What we did!
There is so much to see and do in northern Virginia. A lot of what we did was visit with different people Parker had met while serving there.
We course went and visited the popular sites inside the capital itself. The National Mall is an incredible place and everyone should make it a goal to visit.
Really everything in the capital is pretty incredible to see! To make it easy since there are so many places and sites to visit, we’ll list a few that we really liked.
Holocaust Museum: It’s an extremely powerful place that you should definitely consider!
Library of Congress: An unknown secret of the library is getting a library pass. If you ask around, you’ll be directed to the depths of the capital and there you can get a library pass. This pass allows you to look at all the books behind the doors and glass walls and into the chambers. It’s a cool experience and you get to see all it has to offer. Which, if you have the time, is over 170 million items!
Alexandria: The city is in Virginia, but if you have the time, it’s a beautiful city with lots to see and do.
Loudon County: This is a large area, but the county itself is the wealthiest county in the country. The homes are massive, the malls are fancy, and it includes buildings such as the CIA.
Where we stayed!
This one was a little unique as we were able to stay with people that we knew. The first night however we did stay in Alexandria in a pretty nice hotel. We’d definitely recommend it.
Where we ate!
We, The Pizza: It’s an amazing place near the Library of Congress. Delicious pizza and drinks. There’s also one in Crystal City.
We obviously ate at more than one place but it’s been a while and we didn’t record the places.
Every culture in the world can be found around D.C making this place a great place to find authentic foods.
Annandale is authentic Asian food. Falls Church has delicious Saltanas. The National Mall is full of incredible food courts. Branch out a little and try new things.
Gluten-free in Washington D.C
There are so many restaurants and places to find food. Do a little research and you’ll be just fine!
What we learned!
There is so much to know and learn about Washington D.C. All around the National Mall, there are dozens of museums and places to visit. The Smithsonian’s are some of the coolest museums you’ll ever see.
To make it easy, I know it
To make it easy, and I know it’s cheating, I’m linking a site I’ve read to learn about D.C. It’s a fantastic part of the country and everyone should make an effort to get there.
